Four Things To Fill Your Long Weekend

Sep 28, 2017  ·  3 min read

As we get to the weekend, the forecast is looking to bring some rather warm temps to the coast and Hinterland. If you’re anything like us, there is nothing more exciting than a weekend of sweet weather and basking in all that Mother Nature has to offer, other than a long weekend, of course.

With Saturday hitting 29 degrees with a bit of cloud around you can expect to feel a good dose of humidity, while Sunday is a nice 20 degrees with rain forecast and very similar on Monday, the Queens Birthday weekend.

With this in mind, we came up with a couple of options for the long weekend:

Saturday

Sunrise Surf

A quick look at the charts show that the morning is going to going to be pretty nice out on the water, though no real size. If you’re into just getting out there and watching the sun rise from a board, then this is your day. Light winds, 1ft fluff, this will start your day right.

Japanese for Dinner

The day is meant to turn at one point. It’ll begin to feel like a storm might be approaching thought still warm. This kind of weather calls for some chilled late afternoon drinks that roll into dinner. It might sound bais, but our newly opened Japanese Izakaya, Yamagen is dishing out some of the freshest cuts on the coast.

Sunday

Gold Coast Markets

Keep in mind that the weather will be getting progressively gloomy. That to the side, the Broadbeach Markets are on this Sunday and offer everything you could dream of from a market experience. Foods, juices, trinkets and live entertainment, it’s a mecca for those that love the marketplace.

NRL Grand Final

Even if you’re not a fan, there is something about the atmosphere around a grand final of any sport. This NRL Grand Final sees North Queensland take on Melbourne at a stadium in Sydney, with live entertainment courtesy of US rapper, Macklemore – diversity is key here and no matter the score, this will be some fine entertainment. Find your favourite watering hole and pull up a chair.

Monday

The Second Day of October

What this means to anyone with a streaming subscription is a tonne of new content to binge. The weather looks to be much like Sunday, so feel free to lay in bed and binge all day. Though saying that, the swell might be a little fun and while you’re checking out the surf why not throw in a little beach run while you’re at it.
