A major player on our annual events calendar is World of WearableArts (WOW). They celebrate their 30th birthday this year and the city will be a buzz with WOW Wander to Edible Art menus at selected restaurants.

This year, WOW introduces you can explore the City and see garments from previous shows at selected venues located around the CBD.  Grab a WOW map from the Concierge and explore, As an official accommodation sponsor this year, we are lucky to have four amazing garments here at the Hotel , So why not grab a glass of wine from our Lobby Bar check out the garments and the rest of our eye catching art work and start your wander . Make sure you get that selfie with the famous WOW sign, located along the Waterfront.

WOW is a phenomenon. It inspires designers to be more creative; to be bold and brilliant. And the designers, in turn, drive WOW to be more innovative, more extensive and, generally, just more of everything.

From modest beginnings under a rain-soaked marquee in a rural co-operative art gallery, WOW has grown into an internationally renowned annual design competition attracting hundreds of entries from all over the world.

Once again many of Wellington’s finest dining establishments will be offering specials WOW set menus, in conjunction to this many are participating in the Edible Art Competition. Not to be left out our very own Hippopotamus famous for our High Team is serving an Edible Art High Tea to amaze your taste buds.

Inspired by a world where art and fashion collide, Hippopotamus’ Edible Art high tea creates the ultimate pre-show experience fit for ladies who lunch. Start with something savoury to begin, then work your way through sweet treats that reflect innovation, theatre and perfectly pair with a cocktail of your liking or kick back with champagne.
