Ridiculously Good Room Service

The great outdoors is, well, great. The fresh air, being at one with nature, Namaste, so blessed, and all the rest, but every now and then you want to batten down the hatches, hole up and channel the hermit within. The desire to be locked up might be work related. Maybe you’re slightly agoraphobic or looking to recharge the batteries. Perhaps you’re dealing with the world’s most powerful and unforgiving hangover.

There are plenty of reasons as to why you might stay in, and one thing is for sure, you are going to get peckish, and that’s fine. From breakfast-in-bed options to customised sashimi, roast beef dinners, French desserts and all sorts of naughty and nice beverages, QT Museum Wellington offers next level room service.

Wallowing in a state of recluse-inclined comfort doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consume mad flavours.

We look at 5 things you should order next time you want to eat in bed.

Fresh AF Fruit Salad
Not just a solid breakfast option, a classic fruit salad is a delicious, nutritious and convenient serving for those staying indoors. This treat isn’t really called the “Fresh AF Fruit Salad”, but it should be – it’s made using only the freshest ingredients. It’s also sexy AF – just look at it.

Fancy Toastie
This toasted sandwich is stuffed with sundried tomatoes, pesto, brie and fresh basil and is ideally suited those seeking comfort food. It’s a fancy version of your standard toastie and has been scientifically proven to reduce hangovers and soothe emotional states.

Cheese Platter
Far from the loner side of staying indoors, indulging in a few drinks in your hotel room can be just what the doctor ordered. And if you’re going to have drinks, do it properly, i.e. with a selection of French cheeses and homemade bread.

Booze
Speaking of refreshments – whether you’re after a freshly squeezed juice, barista-made espresso, New Zealand wine or something harder – there is quite the selection of thirst quenchers on the room service menu. We recommended the Craggy Range “Te Muna” Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016 – a great cabin fever drop.

Homemade Crêpes
Treat yourself, before you freak yourself – that’s our motto. It’s not really, but that’s not important. What is important is that these homemade crepes are proudly presented with a scrumptious berry compote and thickened cream. Utah… get me two!
