World Cocktail Week

World Cocktail Week is back this May, with a plethora of cocktail-focused events running throughout the city from 7-13 May. This means seven days of masterclasses, tastings and tutorials by some of Australia’s best bartenders and chefs. Who’s excited?!

More than 40 events will be held across Sydney during the course of the week, including one here at QT Sydney < https://www.broadsheet.com.au/sydney/food-and-drink/event/bubbles-and-oysters>

Hit up the designer hotel for our ‘Bubbles and Oysters’ event, which will see a classic pairing of fresh locally caught oysters with QT’s version of a classic French cocktail, and one not to be tampered with. During World Class Cocktail Week, QT Hotel will offer a take on the classic French 75, made with Tanqueray gin, champagne, lemon juice and sugar, paired with a duo of fresh local oysters. The pairing will be available from midday each day of the week for $24, and will be available in both the Gilt Lounge and the Gowings Bar.

Mind Tasting at This Must Be the Place
The team at This Must Be the Place invites you to a multi-course exploration of their minds. The one-off event will see experiments, trials, rambling, scribbles and concepts come to life, as the team actualizes what goes on in the mind of a World Class bartender. The menu will be impulsive and informal, as the team candidly experiments with whatever ingredients they’re intrigued by at the time. The cocktail degustation will be paired with snacks, and every drink will be one never tasted before.

Black Pearl x Bulletin Place
Two of Australia’s greatest World Class bars will swap teams for two nights during World Class Cocktail Week, to make and shake drinks you’d normally need to travel interstate to experience. Melbourne’s Black Pearl will move into Bulletin Place to showcase cocktails from its newly released menu for Sydney-siders unaccustomed to crossing the border; and down south Sydney’s Bulletin Place bartenders will demonstrate their ethos of daily changing, seasonal drinks behind the bar at the Black Pearl.

Icebergs X World Class Cocktail Week
The iconic beachside dining room and bar will run a tasting menu with matching cocktails exclusively for World Class Cocktail Week. The menu will feature six dishes, ranging from smaller appetisers to mains and two types of dessert, to be paired with a choice of three cocktails to accompany the dishes. The drinks will feature Don Julio Reposado tequila, Tanqueray gin and Bulleit Rye whisky, as well as a twist on the classic Sgroppino made with prosecco and Ciroc vodka. The tasting menu alone is $120 per person, and all matching cocktails are an additional $65 per person
