Let’s Celebrate Beer and Wine this Weekend
Sydney is hosting two festivals worth visiting if you are a beer or wine lover.
This coming weekend is a true celebration of amazing Australian booze, otherwise known as hooch, the hard stuff, sauce, moonshine, vino and liquid courage (I’m sure there are many more but we will stop there) …
For beer lovers
Fan favourite The Cannery in Rosebery is holding the first ever Fresh Harvest Beer Festival on Saturday the 21st of April. This day is about all things local, whether it be the beer, the food, the live music or the people that bring the party, so let’s celebrate!
To explain the beer concept for this festival: Using freshly harvested, ‘wet’ hops, some of NSW’s most popular breweries will be showcasing their unique beers brewed with freshly picked hops from Tasmania.
Fun fact for the Festival: There will also be a search for a new beer brand in the Brewers Unearthed homebrewers competition and discovery program. The winner will receive a 12-month mentoring program to help launch their brand.
Entry is free! Register for the event here if you would like to be involved in the judging for the homebrewers competition.
When: From 1pm on Saturday 21 April
Where: The Cannery, 61 Mentmore Ave, Rosebery
For wine lovers
This Sunday the 22nd of April sees 23 of the Hunter Valley’s best wineries coming together at Avalon’s Village Green at Dunbar Park for a day full of grown-up grape juice joy. Throw in multiple yummy food stalls and craft beers aplenty, it’s the perfect day out. The Riedel Semillon & Oyster Bar and many a masterclass will add that true touch of magnificence.
The Uncorked Avalon Festival is a little taste of what is to come at the Hunter Valley Food and Wine Festival in May and June, so take notes and get ready for the full shebang, if you please.
When: 10am-5pm on Sunday 22 April
Where: Dunbar Park, Avalon
