Vivid Sydney x Instagram

Instagram has opened the possibility to immerse yourself into a world that is, quite literally, a world away. Take for example IG account @ISS. You can follow your favourite astronauts ‘gram game and look back on the planet you live on, without leaving the damn house. Crazy.

It also comes in handy when that FOMO (fear of missing out) feeling begins to set in due to some awesome festival happening and you not being able to attend.

Coachella is a great example for this. Over those two weekends in April, you don’t have to long haul it to LAX and make your way to Palm Springs. You can just tune into the YouTube live events and check out the outfits of the day from your couch.

Another use can be for the best darn light show in all of the earth, Vivid Sydney, which is taking place right now in the Harbour City of Sydney.

So you don’t have to, let me take you on a Vivid escape via the medium of Instagram.

Use this as a source of inspiration before you head out on your own adventure or just enjoy the voyeurism into strangers lives that have posted their personal photos to the Internet for me to find.

Here are the top six photos you’ll find on the ‘gram during this Vivid season:

Let’s start with the big ticket item of Vivid Sydney, the Sydney Opera House. Once the sun sets and the sails are lit… It’s on and oh my, look at this piece of magic, LOOK AT IT!

Then over in the botanical gardens, you’ll find some giant sunflowers looking primed for an Instagram snap.

If you stand on the steps of the Opera House and turn around to face the Bennelong Lawn, you’ll see the Vivid edition of our Hollywood sign… Maybe, just maybe, this one should stay?

Our good friends at the Museum of Contemporary Art always shine brightly during the festival; almost inducing some sort of weird mental mind trip.

Down near the bridge, you’ll find a long exposure playground. If your photog skills aren’t firing, then maybe just hover around the gram and marvel at the people that understand how a camera works.

Then we have the Darling Harbour. A play where lasers come to play with the magic of water. It’s quite the display, as you can see

For the sake of shaking up the hashtags, be sure to get down to Vivid Sydney before the lights are switched off for another year and snap some of your finest content this year!
