That feeling of being offended… We need to talk about it. Do we have a right to offend, do we have the right to feel offended. Maybe we just need to learn how to be offended and then move on like it’s no big deal. Maybe we should consume more offending content and then when offended, it’s just normalised. Not really the most healthy way to deal with it, however, if you are wanting to catch some potentially offensive theatre, playwright Declan Greene has you sorted.
If you’re a fan of Mr Greene’s work, then you would know of his back catalogue of work including Eight Gigabytes of Hardcore Pornography and I Am a Miracle. He’s also won a stack of awards from the Max Afford Playwright to the AWGIE; he’s a talented dude.
Now with the directorial flair of Lee Lewis, the pair are about to bring The Homosexuals or Faggots to Sydney’s Griffin Theatre Company this month.
The play pulls focus on gay newlyweds, Warren and Kim. They have been recently offended by this…
Asking the questions of the LGBTIQA community surrounding marriage, prosecco and the rainbow flag. The production just wrapped in Melbourne and from a number of reviews, it was something not to miss.
Held up with a strong cast of Mama Alto, Simon Burke, Simon Corfield, Genevieve Lemon and Lincoln Younes.
“Declan has written some of the most shockingly funny and some of the most deeply compassionate sentences I have ever heard on the Australian stage – and I want him to do it again.” – Director, Lee Lewis
The Homosexuals or Faggots will be showing at the Griffin Theatre from March 17 until April 29 and you can pick up your tickets HERE.
