Sydney Indesign: The Event

Aug 10, 2017  ·  2 min read

Each year, the creative masterminds behind Indesign organise a mammoth weekend centred around the best design in our two major creative hubs. Alternating between Melbourne and Sydney each year; the harbour-side city is playing host to the 2017 festivities. Indesign: The Event runs across two days in four districts with 50 exhibitors – we know we’re in for a design-driven treat. Kicking off Friday, August 11, here is a list of our must-attend hot spots this weekend.

Seeho Su
The Venue
Teaming up with architectural powerhouse Geyer, Seeho Su will be proudly showcasing their beautiful handcrafted designer furniture, lighting and objects that have been handpicked by the Geyer team. Also, be sure to keep your eye out for Nato Fukasawa-designer furniture from Japan.

Didier
Pioneer @ B2 Studios
Melbourne-based furniture designer Ross Didier will be exhibiting his latest innovative designs, which are a clever combination of intriguing and functional. Visitors will have the lucky chance to get up close and personal with Didier’s Cappala seating collection, the Gelava chairs and the highly popular Liqueur table.

Alternative Surfaces
The Venue
If you have a penchant for beautiful surfaces and tactile textures, this is a good stop off for you. Alternative Surfaces will be exploring the relationship between surface and texture, inspired by Brutalist design forms and cubic facades contrasted with sweeping internal curved walls.

Dessein
Pioneer @ B2 Studios
This location is definitely with a look-in, as all visitors have a chance to win a Pieman Armchair designed by renowned Australian designer Tom Fereday – yes please! Dessein Furniture will be exploring the work of Tom Fereday, Simon Archer, Nathan Day, and Marcus Piper for this year’s Indesign. Dessein is all about sophisticated modern furniture and is internationally recognised for their remarkable design integrity.
