Celebrate Sunsets this Summer in Sydney

Jan 29, 2018  ·  2 min read

Make the most of our delightful daylight savings-assisted Sydney evenings this February with Sunset20°N. Staged in the beautiful new Barangaroo Reserve, which is part of the beautiful spot that is Gadigal Country, Sunset20°N is celebrating 12 sunsets with the accompaniment of live music, delicious food and a showing of traditional culture.

Focusing on Barangaroo’s history, this festival of sunsets is aiming to project the independence and strength of Barangaroo herself. If you weren’t aware, Barangaroo is the name of the strong female leader of the Cammeraygal people of Sydney.

Collaborating with Yuwaalaraay artist and designer Lucy Simpson of Gaawaa Miyay, Sunset20°N is focused on the beauty that is the setting sun and the stories of the people and the place.

This free event is all about celebrating culture, music, food and most of all our land and its original people. It is also a true celebration of women.

Food

Each weekend there will be a food series available at the site, curated and designed by some truly fabulous female chefs such as Clair Van Vuuren of Bloodwood fame and Jane Strode from Merivale’s Fred’s. The drinks menu will also be mainly made up of female winemakers and producers – so get your drink on with some seriously divine sips of everything from beer to cocktails.

Music

Bop to the beats of some fabulous female artists such as Thelma Plum, Sampa the Great and Caiti Baker while whiling away your afternoon and evening in harmony. There are some seriously talented ladies gracing the stage, so check out the program and make some hard decisions about when you want to go.

Top tip

Don’t miss an exploration of the large-scale Grandmother Tree as it changes with the sunset, reflecting colours and light across the harbour.
