Men’s Winter Fashion Trends

Gents, take note – winter is a time to shine when it comes to your sartorial choices. Yes, the cooler months means more layers and a little bit more effort, but boy do we love seeing dapper dudes looking sharp in their winter threads. Here, we’ve enlisted the help from incredibly fashion-forward Sam Diamond of Dapper Melbourne Man who has rounded up a list of this year’s men’s winter trends and how to pull them off perfectly.

Trench coats
Men have always looked pretty darn good in a trench and we think all fellas should have at least one really stylish, tailored coat hanging in their wardrobe. “The classic beige trench coat is a timeless and versatile winter must-have,” says Sam. “They are light enough to sit over a suit and also look great over a black turtle-neck.”

White pants
“White pants in winter?” we hear you ask. Yes, absolutely, says Sam! “White pants are a classic and bold choice for dapper guys this season – a summer classic on-trend for winter. Pair with a double breasted navy blazer for a classic look,” he says.

Double breasted suits
The 1980 silhouette is back, minus the shoulder pads for the urban, fashion-conscious fella. “Don’t be afraid to choose this dominant and confident look,” says Sam. “It works well for a corporate look, weddings and the races (the best event on the agenda for spring!). Worn in a suit with pleated trousers is a big in look this year. If you can, opt for made-to-measure for a finessed look. If it’s your first, go for a navy,” he says.

Statement jackets
Denim, leather, bomber, whatever your choice of jacket, make it a statement. Yes, black and navy bombers featured prevalently in street style, but bolder, more vivid shades also played a major role in distinguishing attendees from other guests. For gentlemen wanting to keep things conservative, opt for versatile colours, but ensure that your fit is youthful and your accompanying pieces are streamlined.

Find plenty of inspiration from Sam’s swoon-worthy Instagram account here. Go forth, men of style!
