Sydney Italian Wine + Food Festival

By Ben Stephens.

If you ask any Italian, they’ll tell you themselves, they do it better. From football, to the bedroom and of course the kitchen. The Italians are a bunch of fine admirers of their own work and to be honest, why wouldn’t they be. The writing on the wall with this one, well more so the menu, but whatever. In celebration of just how damn fine their work with wine and food is, it comes with a huge smile to let you know that Sydney’s Italian Wine + Food Festival is less than a month away and is jam packed with agnolotti, Parmesan, Gruppettos, gnocchi, plenty of imported wine and heaps of other Italian things you may or may not have heard of.

When it comes to a food and wine festival, hosted by Italians, you’d expect some the best produce, recipes and brews on hand, and that is exactly what will be served in mid-August at Sydney’s Town Hall. There is a long list of Italian chefs around Sydney that will be making sure the cooking demonstrations are second to none. To whet your appetite, just cast your eyes over this list of flavour maestros that will be showing you how it’s done; Giovanni Pilu from Pilu at Freshwater, Frederico Zannelato from LuMi, Richard Ptacnik from Otto Ristorante and Francesco Spataro from Aperitivo just to name but a few. Also the word on the street is that the Mitch Orr, boy wonder behind ACME and Bar Barose, will be whipping up some magic of his own in a gastronomic demonstration.
