Sometimes, when I lack the inspiration needed to create something that actually counts as nutritious, I find myself searching YouTube for old Jamie Oliver clips, in search of quick pukka tukka recipes that can be made with minimal ingredients. Other times I enjoy throwing a dinner for close friends with a theme, usually consisting of eight elegant courses, minimum. One of these happens more often than the other. One of them might actually never happen.
Food gets me excited, I love where a dish can take you, it even gets me out bed… on a Sunday. When it comes to sourcing new products, where the supermarkets and even niche greengrocers fail, there are the festivals of ridiculously good food and equally fine wine. Being the year that it is, August is almost upon us and with it brings a highlight in the gastronomic calendar, that is Sydney’s Good Food and Wine Show 2016. Before we get into who is there and why you want to be there, HERE is the link to the tickets, you’ll want to grab those ASAP.
The Sydney Showground will be transformed into a foodie heaven August 5 – 7. First off you’ll want to check out the Good Food Theatre to soak up that inspiration from some local and international chefs. With the likes of Sydney’s own Kylie Kwong, Irish lad Alastair Mcleod and the ever energetic Miguel Maestre, the pros will be taking to the stage over the three days to talk about their craft while showing off some demonstrations that will make your mouth water.
On top of all this, you have The Grazing Garden, where you can find the ready to eat treats, accompanied with wine, or beer or whatever artisanal beverage you desire. The cheese alley is back and rammed pack with all that deliciousness that comes with a cheese backstreet… mainly cheese. Lastly, yet most importantly, Mr Wine or Nick Ryan as some call him, will be hosting the Drinks Lab. This is where all the wine can be found, ready for tasting with clear, very understandable wine conversation to accompany your Pinot. As far as weekends go, this is three days dedicated to eating and drinking, two things that make the world a better place. Mix that with inspiration for creating good food and cheers!
The Sydney Good Food and Wine Show runs from August 5 – 7, 2016.
