Sydney Farmers Markets not to be Missed

Jan 10, 2018  ·  4 min read

Sydney offers some pretty wonderful paddock to plate buying options so make sure you hit up one or more of the abundance of farmers markets around town.

We’ll narrow it down for you …You’re welcome!

Carriageworks Farmers Market

Located in the always impressive space that is Carriageworks – the markets really do make the most of the open area and the truly excitable clientele. It’s a food party that all will enjoy. Enter with an open mind and some coins in your pocket as you will 100% be drawn in for a purchase by the expanse of tastiness on display.

Make sure you don’t spend it all on the take home goods though, as the prepared food at the market is DI-VINE. Our pick of the bunch is Billy Kwong’s – don’t miss out on those to die for dumplings. Be warned – you snooze, you lose! Get in quick people because it’s a chance to indulge for a fraction of the restaurant price.

When: Every Saturday 8am-1pm
Where: 245 Wilson Street, Eveleigh (corner Codrington Street)

Bondi Farmers Market

Catering to the rich, famous, backpackers and hippies alike, you will be sure to find all things organic, natural, freshly prepared and trendy that you could ever ask for at the Bondi Farmers Markets. The fruit and veggies are plump and crisp, while the prepared foods are innovative, tasty and absolutely worth trying. Also keep you eye out for organically grown meat and poultry, flowers, artisanal breads and pretty much everything you could ever need or want from a farmers market.

When: Every Saturday 9am -1pm
Where: Bondi Beach Public School on Campbell Parade

EQ Market

Don’t judge before you try. You might think of the Entertainment Quarter as a place you go to the movies, or for a quick bite or drink before your concert or game at the Hordern or SCG. But trust us, the markets are much more than just a convenient stop over. The produce and vibe is truly worth investing some time and money in. Not only are the stalls different, enticing and tasty, but the space is the perfect spot to buy something, sit down and let the kiddies have a run around. It’s also very convenient to drive to with plenty of parking. Plus, it’s just a hop away from Centennial Park, which is always lovely for a stroll if you want to spend the day.

When: Every Wednesday and Saturday, 8am-2pm
Where:  Entertainment Quarter, Lang Road, Moore Park

Marrickville Market

Walking around Marrickville Market really does feel like you are in the country. It’s hectic, you get lost, you don’t know what to pick, you are overwhelmed – but all in the best kind of way. From breads and pastries, to flowers and spices … Veggies, cheeses, chutneys, oils, artisan anything, you name it, they have it. Take a deep breath, think, and GO! You’ve got nothing to lose (except maybe a few dollars because it is all just so hard to say no to).

When: Every Sunday from 9am-3pm
Where: 142 Addison Road, Marrickville

Northside Produce Market

If anyone has been to the North Sydney Night Noodle Markets in their lifetime, you know where to go. This lovely spot of green between the local library and community centre, really is the perfect spot for a community to get together in the form of a farmers market. Wandering around the stalls might take a while as you are likely to get into conversations with many a folk. It really is the local market and the stall owners really do want you to try before you buy. Not only is it a great spot for fresh produce but, if you are looking for gifts, the array of beautiful jams, chutneys, oils and spices will definitely help you out in the present department. Live music and activities for kids makes it a very easy place to hang out for a few hours with your neighbours, friends and strangers.

When: The 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, 8am-12pm
Where: Civic Park, 220 Miller Street, North Sydney
