Don’t Miss Pipilotti Rist

Sadly, the sensational, vibrant and mesmerising exhibition of Pipilotti Rist is finishing up on the 18^th of February. All good things must come to an end, they say.

We strongly urge you to get to the Museum of Contemporary Art ASAP before you miss out on a truly delightful visual experience.

Exclusive to Sydney, this exhibition by the Swiss artist has been turning heads and getting extremely high praise from industry experts.

It’s been described as “engaging”, “stunning”, and “joyful”, to mention just a few responses.

Pipilotti Rist has been producing fantastic pieces of art for the last 30 years. She specialises in experimental video art and multimedia installations and her work really is a feast for the senses.

With her current showing at the MCA, Sip my Ocean, she mixes video with sculpture, which results in a kaleidoscope of brilliant projected colours. The exhibition is aimed at exploring the relationship between technology, the body and nature. Heavy stuff in theory but thoroughly thought-provoking and insightful upon viewing.

As part of the Sydney International Art Series, Sip my Ocean is great for the whole family – adults and children alike will be pulled in and, potentially, never want to leave.

One thing that is cool about Rist’s work is that she references her own artistic background, as well as the history of New Media throughout. Her earlier works are shown on monitors while her new works are projected onto the ceiling, walls and floor. It’s a very interesting juxtaposition on the old and the new, both with her art and also technological advances.

It’s an extremely immersive experience and even has comfy cushions and bean bags where you can sit down, observe and reflect … All while surrounded by a rainbow of projected colour and movement.

We highly recommend Sip my Ocean if you are keen, open and excited for something a bit different. But different in a good way. It’s highly accessible, enjoyable and a lovely indulgence for most.
