Celebrate in Sydney this New Year’s Eve

Dec 14, 2017  ·  3 min read

With 2018 just days away (yes … days!) it’s time to start thinking about how you’ll be ringing in yet another New Year. Whether you’re a fireworks fanatic or feel like boogieing away your sins of ’17 – Sydney has got an option for everyone.

Avoid the last minute rush of deciding how you’ll be bidding goodbye to the year by securing yourself a spot at one of these events:

NYE with Opera Australia

Kick off the New Year with the glamour and glitz of a night at the Opera. We’re talking a three course feast with matching wines, followed by some incredible arias and operettas in the Opera House Concert Hall, and a view of the midnight fireworks from one of the city’s best vantage points.

Cockatoo Island

If one night of celebrating is just not enough, why not extend your New Year’s festivities across a whole weekend and have yourself a harbour staycation. Cockatoo Island have two night glamping and camping packages available so you can make yourself at home on this iconic island and nab a prime spot for fireworks viewing. You’ll be well looked after with an abundance of food and drink stalls on site, tours of the island and stacks of activities to make this a holiday to remember.

NYE in the Park

Escape the harbour side crowds and get amongst a garden party like no other at the inaugural NYE in the Park. Kicking off at 3pm, Victoria Park will be transformed into an al fresco dancefloor with the likes of Hot Dub Time Machine, Running Touch and Yahtzel providing you with a banging soundtrack to dance your way in to 2018. There’ll also be fireworks, food and drinks galore, plus tickets are only $89 – winning!

Harbour Hoopla

If you’ve spent 2017 perfecting your cartwheels and honing your hoola skills then Harbour Hoopla is the place to be. This vintage themed circus event is coming to the Royal Botanic Garden this NYE and bringing with it a whole lot of sequins and sass. There’ll be funfair games, circus performers, a DJ and space aplenty to set up your picnic blanket for the midnight fireworks. All tickets include a picnic hamper on entry and there’ll be plenty of bars on site to keep the bubbles flowing.
