I think It’s safe to say we all love a good doco. There’s something about scrambling through your digital TV’s list of rubbish channels and, just when you’re about to give up hope and settle for another episode of ‘The Price is Right’, you find yourself a good ol’ doco on a part of the world you never knew existed.

Documentaries have always been fascinating to me. Just the concept of learning whilst watching TV is a win/win situation. Who doesn’t love the idea of brewing a big pot of herbal tea, vegging out on the couch and being transported to another place to the comforting voice of David Attenborough! From finding out something you didn’t know about the Vietnam War, to discovering how ant colonies work together as a bad-ass unit to survive – there’s always a reason to lose a couple of hours in front of the goggle-box.

So if you’re like me, and love a good nature show, then get keen, for October brings another gift in the form of the Antenna Documentary Film Festival – yep, that’s right; documentaries so good, they’re film-festival worthy!

There’s something for everyone on the schedule. It seems every genre has been tapped to cater to every taste. Don’t like animal doco’s? Follow the tale of the man who followed his father’s footsteps from French resistance to restauranteur! Or check out The Age of Consequences and discover a whole new light on climate change through the eyes of the policy-makers. The list is unbelievable. In fact, you need to see it to believe it.
