How To Stay Glam When Globetrotting

Nov 9, 2017  ·  3 min read

Glamour is synonymous with travel, but why do we tend to feel worse for wear and weary after a long haul across the globe? The long airport lines, the stuffy dry aeroplane air and the less-than-desirable airline food (looking at you, economy class) all combust into one pretty heavy feeling once you land in your terminus.

Here are our top five tips on how to help stay fresh and glamorous while globetrotting and ensure from the moment you leave your location to the moment you arrive in your new destination you feel more than amazing.

Stay hydrated

Yes, it’s a simple one and one you’ve heard before. This is the smallest and simplest first step to warding off dry skin, under-eye bags and a sallow appearance – three things no one needs when arriving somewhere special.

Buy a one litre glass bottle (much better for you than plastic) and fill it at least three times. Drink and repeat. Water is no cure for jetlag, but at least your cheeks may stay a little plumper.

Style right

Glamour doesn’t always mean sky-high pumps, a made up face and designer threads. In fact, travel glamour should be effortless and approachable, and most importantly – comfortable. Keep the kicks low-key but cool, you want shoes you can easily slip on and off when you need to.

As for your threads, some soft, durable denim and easily breathable fabrics like cotton or linen are ideal for staying fresh yet glam up in the air and on the ground.

Beautify

These are some of our greatest tricks of the trade. Our favourite quick pick-me-up beauty secrets include: a mineral face spritz, eye drops, lip balm (tinted if you want extra sass), hand moisturiser, a face oil (we like rose hip and sweet almond oil) and a hair brush.

Pack these in your carry-on and apply liberally; but for international flights remember you can’t take bottled liquids more than 100mls so keep them travel size.

Pack your own food

Before a long flight, pick out a small selection of healthy snacks you can take with you. Think about it, you are stuck in a flying tin-can for up to lord knows how many hours with nowhere to go and no options other than what’s available. We like fresh fruit (berries), nuts, potted chia puddings, sugar-free muesli bars and healthy crackers.

Be prepared

Before packing your carry-on luggage, write a checklist and tick off as you add each item. You can’t fail if you come prepared.

Want to know our number one hottest tip? Make sure you have somewhere world-class to stay when you arrive. Nothing like sinking into hotel sheets once you reach your destination. A dreamy sleep in a top-notch (QT gel) bed is the only cure for jetlag…
