Valentine’s Day In Queenstown

Valentine’s Day in Queenstown, and around the world for that matter, is approaching. And, even if you refuse to let Saint Valentine and his horde of arrow slinging cupids fill your head with waves of fuzzy romance, there’s an equal chance your partner is all about that very thing.

So to make life easier, we’ve made a list of very romantic activities for Valentine’s Day in Queenstown, that are still interesting for those not really into it.

Lakeside

Even the biggest Valentine’s Day grinch couldn’t say no to a bottle of Cab Sav, a picnic blanket and “bae” (are people still saying “bae”?) perched in front of the stunning Lake Wakatipu. Be prepared for the Instagrammer in the relationship to take shots from multiple angles and spend a minimum of 23 minutes writing a caption about their ‘partner in crime’.

Bardeux

This dark and handsome bar has a crazy wine list and an equally as nuts cocktail list. It also has sophisticated brown leather chairs set in front of the fireplace. Bardeux is cosy, it’s romantic and, best of all, the range of local Pinots is bang on point.

Barmuda

Similar to Bardeux, this bar is all about getting merry in front of the fire. Although, at Barmuda you’re getting cosy by an al fresco fire, and always with a grandiose platter.

Catch a wicked sunset

So simple, yet so romantic … and so bearable if you’re not into being romantic. The sunsets around Queenstown are that good, they can turn something you don’t want to do into something you do want to do. And, if you are romantic, it’s a win win.

The Lodge Bar

Another place to eat, drink and get cosy with sheepskin at every turn. With New Zealand’s finest wines and an intricately prepared food menu, The Lodge Bar aims to showcase the absolute best that New Zealand has to offer. If your partner is into nice things and menus that make their pupils dilate, it’ll impress the pants right off of them. Note – order the oysters.
