Christmas at QT

Ladies and gents, the race is on. It’s coming in to our warmer months and this year has flown by faster than my over-enthusiastic hands belting drinks off the table. As always, I was excited for the winter months – the snow, the giant jumpers and fluffy socks – now I’m all like, give me dungarees and flip flops and chilly bins by the lake (I’m Australian, and the term ‘chilly-bin’ still makes me smile like a loon). Summer down here in our mountain town fit for the Queen is fast becoming the favourite time of year for travelers – while everything used to revolve around the snow, now it’s more about hiking boots, kayaking and avoiding sandflies like your life depends on it.

We here at QT Queenstown are stoked to see the sun rising just that little bit earlier each day, which does mean you have to drag yourself out of bed to catch the colours over the eastern ranges, but it also means dusk hits at the perfect time to pull up a chair, pop open a bottle and enjoy the western facing show.

As hard as it is for the Northern Hemisphere-ians to fathom, down under, our Santa Claus wears flowing shirts, cork-bottle hats and shows off those dainty calves in denim cut-offs. Christmas here in Queenstown has always been coupled with groups of wayward pals making their way to the lake, blasting tunes, fiercely red cheeks and that all round ‘come-one come-all’ vibe, so we are throwing it in with the mix here at Bazaar Interactive Marketplace and Reds Bar to bring the Christmas fever some of our personal flair.

For the travelers making their way far from home, be it to see the world or avoid drunk relatives, we can house you and feed you like never before; the kind of situation where unbuttoned pants and post-lunch naps are labeled on the menu as a must. The bar will be open from mid-day with the lunch seating happening from 12:30 and the dinner from 6, so you’re able to flood in there, grab a cheeky tipple to line your stomach before buckling in and going to town on the Carvery, Wok and Garden stations laden with everything Christmas-y, and more.
