The Perfect 24 hours in Queenstown in Summer

Dec 8, 2017  ·  2 min read

Picture this …

You wake up in your bright and brilliant room at brand spanking new QT Queenstown.

You take in the breathtaking vista from your Lake View Balcony and reflect on life. Or have a cup or tea. Whatever floats your boat.

Then you casually make your way to breakfast at bustling Bazaar to fuel up for the busy day ahead. You then do a few stretches and prepare for the hefty but unforgettable hike you are about to do up the Ben Lomond Track.

To summit or not to summit, that is the question … ? The Ben Lomond Saddle will take approximately 3-4 hours return, depending on walking pace. To reach the Ben Lomond Summit will take a much larger chunk of your day – about 6-8 hours.

Both are well worth it. If you do choose to hit the peak, you will have panoramic views of Mount Earnslaw, Mount Pikirakatahi, Aspiring and Tititea. The views from the Saddle are still just as gush-worthy. Remember to pack your sunscreen and water, of course. Maybe a sneaky snack or packed lunch too because you’re bound to get peckish.

If you’d prefer to feast after you hike, head to Ferg Burger and then pop next door to Mrs Ferg Gelato to replenish your energy after the strenuous exercise (any excuse!).

By now it’s definitely time for a beverage so head to the lakeside to relax and reminisce or, if it’s a Sunday, QT Queenstown hosts a mean Kiwi-style BBQ that’s not to be missed. The Summer Barbie has a choice prime meat selection made even better by some of the best beers on offer from Black Dog Brewery. Bring your appetite and prepare for a meat coma!
