QT Sydney Celebrates Fashion Week With Artistically Driven Label Romance Was Born

Posted on: 05 June 2017

Alongside art and design, fashion is synonymous with QT. QT Sydney has continued its association with fashion house Romance Was Born through supporting this year’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA), commencing Sunday May 14, 2017.

Highly regarded for their opulent signature style, their use of unique fabrics, dazzling colours and rich embellishments has become the hallmark of the label. Designers Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales continue to push the boundaries with collections that both captivate and inspire beyond the restraints of mere garmenting to the level of true art – the perfect fit for QT.

No better platform exists to witness their full creative vision than on the runway, and Romance Was Born has fittingly been selected to close MBFWA 2017 with their collection showing titled, Electro Orchid taking place on Thursday evening, May 18.

Following the show, QT Sydney’s elite Gilt Lounge will play host to the official Romance Was Born after party and arguably the closing party for the week, with a high octane cocktail reception for Sydney’s influential fashion crowd. The Electro Orchid collection’s disco-inspired pop-art floral fantasy aesthetic will be celebrated with custom cocktails by Etihad, Perrier-Jouet champagne, and Handpicked Wines, with and a canape menu designed by QT Hotel’s Creative Food Director, Robert Marchetti.

“We are so excited to partner with QT!  We have the privilege of exhibiting archival looks at QT throughout MBFWA, and the hotel will play host to our Electro Orchid after party.   We love the synergy of our brand and theirs; eclectic, unexpected, energetic and decadent. We can’t think of a better spot to let our hair down post- show and pop some Perrier-Jouët and our favourite Australian Rose from Hand Picked Wines, with our all our hard working team and friends,” said Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales, Designers Romance Was Born.

Extending the collaboration, the hotel’s heritage vintage glass and timber display cabinetry flanking the ground floor entry in Parlour Lane – which once graced the original Gowings Store from which QT Sydney is the very reincarnation – will showcase five archival pieces from past Romance Was Born collections.

“We’re thrilled to be supporting the fashion community with one of the nation’s most lauded fashion houses, Romance Was Born, to showcase their archival apparel over Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. Their dramatic and theatrical designs are a synonymous expression of QT Sydney given their unique sense of ‘wearable art’. The synergy between art, fashion and design is what we’re all about, and this collaboration aligns perfectly,” said Rhys Jones, General Manager of QT Sydney.

The display cabinets featuring Romance Was Born archival designs can be viewed daily until Wednesday May 24, 2017.
