We have repeatedly said that we love winter. And we do. Because we like the cold. But what we also love is the anticipation of the pending summer, and part of that process of pending is the gradual release of our favourite labels summer and resort wear. Such as Karen Walker.

KW’s Resort 2014 collection is like a shot of candy straight to the wardrobe. Pinafores, short suits and smocks in black, coral and cerulean (yes, we totally just used that word) are giving the ladies of the office are bad case of the wants.

One of the best parts of the collection is the no-fuss approach that Karen Walker as taken. Lines have shapes have been kept clean and fresh, nostalgic even as they have an almost child-like whimsy to them. There are, of course, the mandatory hidden quirks such as an asymmetrical skirt, frayed hems, raw edges and a slight oversizing in the tops in order to keep the collection interesting. But the sophistication lies in its overall simplicity – there is nothing in Karen Walker’s resort collection that you couldn’t wear anywhere. And being the practical, pragmatic consumers that we are, this is a very good thing.
