WA Day 2018 Festival

Birds Of Tokyo, San Cisco, food trucks, and multicultural fun at WA Day.

Western Australia doesn’t celebrate the Queen’s Birthday. We celebrate WA Day. A day to promote Western Australians and their achievements. And a day to encourage pride in all things Western Australian.

What is WA Day?

Taking place on the first Monday in June, WA Day was originally known as Foundation Day, a day that marked when the first European settlers arrived from Britain to settle the Swan River Colony.

This was formally changed to make a new ‘State Day’ that was to be inclusive for all Western Australians, that recognised our Aboriginal history, and celebrated Western Australia’s many different urban, rural and regional communities, and multicultural diversity.

WA Day Festival

This is a day of fun. Think live music and entertainment, an interactive kids zone, sports clinics with the Wildcats and Scorchers, and spectacular fireworks over the Swan River. There’ll also be a convoy of salty, sweet and indulgent food trucks, and a string of pop-up bars serving local beers and wines.
