When you adventure around the Victorian capital, it’s hard to know what to match with that fine morning brew of caffeinated goodness.

Melbourne is awash with damn tasty treats that you don’t want to miss out on.

So in a bid to fill that craving, here are five delicious pastries that you need to try this Winter:

Lune Croissanterie
Are you into that layered buttered pastry that starts with a crunch and ends in a heavenly fluffy cloud? Same. We’re really into, so much so that it’s hard to really pinpoint the best single crescent moon shaped treat, though the ones at Lune are up there. Well and truly. The space alone is worth venturing to, it feeds the mind with a minimal layout that then produces the goods. Start with the classic croissant then go deeper from there, you can’t go wrong.

Baker D
Alright, get yo’ sweet tooth ready. This place not only knocks out some delicious bread, coffee and cookies, but it’s the tartlets that get me and in spin. Just look at these little treats! LOOK AT THEM!!!

Noisette Bakery
This French bakery is my numéro un for Ham & Cheese fused together in a buttery pastry casing, creating a flavour as classic as the cooking techniques used. The team at Noisette will have you in a H+C coma by the end of this little number, only to be dreaming of more. So good!

The Cake Shop
As far at eclairs in Melbourne go, it might sound a tad biased, but our team at Pascale create some of the best. With a hard outer shell, your first bite yields a softer centre while your taste buds begin to enjoy the chocolate notes. The choice between chocolate and caramel will leave you split in two, so grab both and enjoy. Short Stop Donuts
The donut fad turned out to be rather fad-less. Probably due to the flavours and creations that were pumped out around the time of fresh shakes. They died out, which was good, yet the donuts stayed and for those mid-morning snacks, nothing really compares to a ball of dough piped with Nutella or something ridiculous. Short Stop lead the way in good coffee and damn good donuts. They offer flavours that are a little more mature, like maple walnut and brown butter or Australian honey and sea salt, making Short Stop a must stop when in town.
