Winter Activities on the Gold Coast

Jul 17, 2017  ·  3 min read

Our brothers and sisters that find themselves in the southern states of NSW, ACT and Victoria, are all saying it’s rather chilly down there. The snow bunnies at QT Falls Creek are raving about huge dumpings of snow. The Directors of Chaos at QT Melbourne are talking about those arctic blasts coming through the city and the those that find themselves in Sydney are missing the ocean temperatures that summer brings with it.

So with all this cold talk from the south, let’s celebrate the Sunshine State and our 20-degree average winter days, because, we have it pretty good.

If you’re feeling the urge to get out into the winter sun, here are a couple of favourite things to do:

Watch the Whales
It’s one of those things that you might not have ever done… But let me tell you, it’s an incredible experience and well worth your time. Firstly, time spent on the water only heals you. So time spent with the team from the Spirit of Gold Coast does that and more with guaranteed viewings of the oceanic giants (or you get a free ticket to return). Now is the perfect time to catch the migration of the whales and the Gold Coast is a perfect spot to catch them playing about, being all cute and what not. Book your tickets HERE.

Get to a Market
There are plenty of Gold Coast Markets that will happily take your monies in exchange for goods or services and it really depends on what you’re looking for. A QT favourite would be The Village Markets where we find it hard not to buy everything. From flowers, plants and handmade crafts to clothing, niche furniture and everything else that looks good on Instagram. This is also the place to find those up and coming brands that are yet to commit to a bricks and mortar store but will kill it when they do. Scroll the gram HERE.

Check out the theatre
The Arts Centre Gold Coast or TACGC as they are rarely known as, are about to lift the curtain on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s fine piece of theatre that is The Marriage of Figaro. Focusing in on a household and the happenings of one day with masters chasing servants and servants chasing masters; this is set to be a rather fun return to the period piece. Organise your group and then grab your tickets HERE
