Why Locals Love Sundays

Oct 19, 2016  ·  3 min read

By Chelsea Dulieu

For Gold Coasters, Sunday’s are sacred and the famous ‘Sunday Sesh’ is a way of life. Whether you are a 9-5er relishing your last day of the weekend or you are a hospitality worker unwinding after another crazy weekend, Sunday is always the key to good vibes and re-grouping yourself.

For some a Sunday Sesh is getting a group of friends together and hitting the town for cocktails and beers, for others a chance to catch up with family and for some it is that one day a week where they can sit alone in peace and read a book, cook that new recipe, lounge in the pool – basically whatever takes your fancy – ITS SUNDAY!

However, instead of me sitting here and speaking (or writing) on their behalf, here are some snippets of what the locals love about Sundays right from the mouths of the Gold Coasters themselves;

“Having breakfast at any point during the day is perfectly acceptable on Sundays”Mass, Main Beach.

“Sunday’s for me are all about taking the kids out for some action, then chilling by the pool and listening to the Koi boys do their thing downstairs. Fun all day, sun all day, music all day”Nigel, Broadbeach.

“A later than healthy time for breakfast and some good cold drip coffee followed by a refreshing Bloody Mary should always be on the cards. Find a spot with a pleasant view, chilled tunes and good company”Clint, Surfers Paradise.

“Relaxing, fun catch ups with family & friends. Usually enjoyment of a cheeky champers or two!” – Orla, Labrador.

“Sunday Sunset schooners sounds salubrious!”Tim, Coolangatta.

“Sundays are all about stretching out the weekend as much as possible. Forgetting I have work responsibilities on Monday via waves, enjoying a mad brunch and then sinking beers & daiquiris in the sun”Tristan, Nobby’s Beach.

So there you have it folks. If you have ever wondered why the Gold Coasters are such a friendly bunch, I think the above gives you your answer. They sure know how to kick back and relax and make the most of a glorious Summer Sunday!

Friday has us feeling like…Yippee!
