Up close and personal with Sue Maslin

Dating back to the late 1980’s, the Gold Coast has proved to be a spectacular muse for international filmmakers.

With that in mind, it comes with great excitement to announce that QT Gold Coast is once again a proud sponsor of the Gold Coast Film Festival (GCFF).

The festival, which was established in 2002, celebrates and promotes all aspects of film and filmmaking. From internationally acclaimed dramas, comedies and genre films, as well as locally made indie gems and family features, the GCFF offers a culturally diverse, interactive and engaging program of film, events and special guests.

A highlight of the festival is the third annual Women in Film Luncheon which seeks to recognise the contribution and achievement of women in film and television in Australia.

Set at Bazaar Restaurant, guests are invited to get up-close and personal with one of Australia’s most successful film producers and advocates for women in the industry, Sue Maslin.

Arguably one of Australia’s most successful film, television and digital content producers with a track record of creating award-winning feature and documentary films, Maslin’s latest claim to fame includes the $20 million block office hit, The Dressmaker starring Kate Winslet and Judy Davis.

The Dressmaker also earned Maslin the highest number of nominations at the 2015 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards, winning five including the coveted People’s Choice Award for Favourite Australian Film.

Maslin’s biography is a star-studded affair featuring 35 years of outstanding contributions to the Australian screen industry.

Other feature credits include Road To Nhill, winner of 2003 Best Feature Film at Thessaloniki International Film Festival; Japanese Story featuring our very own Toni Collette, and Irresistible starring Susan Sarandon.

As the Patron of Women In Film and Television, an organisation dedicated to inspiring leadership and increasing the participation of women in the screen industry, Maslin is the perfect choice for the GCFF’s Women in Film Luncheon on Friday 21st April.

The event includes Bazaar’s famed Marketplace lunch and a full drinks package plus the chance to pick the brain of one of Australia’s finest film producers.
