If you didn’t see this fella floating above the sand at last year’s Swell Sculpture Festival, you really missed out! This six metre tall, bright red octopus named ‘The Shadow After Innsmouth’ was one of the many brilliantly colourful and valiant pieces created by UK artists Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas at last year’s exhibition.
The Swell Sculpture Festival is Queensland’s largest outdoor exhibition and will be brightening up the beachfront of Currumbin this year from September 9 – 18. The festival will boast an impressive display featuring fifty unique sculptures constructed by local, national and international artists.
This free, family-friendly event will be celebrating its 14th year anniversary with twilight walks, artist seminars, children’s workshops and artist master classes. In addition to this, locals and tourists will have the opportunity to experience the Swell Smalls Gallery located next to The Deck Café. This exhibition will be showcasing smaller works from the festival and guests will have the opportunity to purchase their favourite pieces to take home!
