Meet: costume character Natalie Faulkner

May 18, 2017  ·  4 min read

words by kobi facto

When she’s not impersonating mermaids, princesses, fairies, snow queens, pirates or other idolised kids characters, Natalie Faulkner is rather like you or I.

She’s a hard-working Gold Coast Mumma, wifey, entrepreneur, fashionista and super lifestyle enthusiast who juggles her days with poise, swagger and style.

We sit down to see what makes this Wonder Woman tick.

KF: Three words that best describe you?
NF: Bubbly, outgoing, loving

KF: Wardrobe favourite?
NF: I am a dress kinda gal! Anything flowy and feminine or a bit boho makes me happy!

KF: Your most memorable vacay?
NF: Of all the places I have travelled in the world Hawaii for our 1st wedding anniversary is my most memorable holiday. I just adored the people, the food, the music and the atmosphere. I had always wanted to stay at the Royal Hawaiian hotel and I was so excited to finally go! I got to drink pink cocktails by the pink pool whilst wearing a pink fresh flower lei! Dreams do come true! And the room was magical. I highly recommend it.

Oh, and it turned out we conceived our beautiful bubba Jude there too which makes it extra spesh! (laughs, over-share?) We also love a mini break and every time we stay at QT we have a ball! Best room service and those beds = the best sleep ever!

KF: Go-to healthy snack?
NF: I’m obsessed with hummus and brown rice crackers at the moment! And fresh raspberries (they’re good for your skin too)!

KF: Favourite dinner?
NF: Anything Italian or Mexican

K: Workout routine?
NF:
I am a huge fan of ‘accidental’ exercise. Then it doesn’t feel like a chore! Ha! So things like walking the dog, beach walks with friends or family, bike rides, horse riding and dancing. Sometimes I mow the lawn too just so I can kill two birds with one stone. Multi-tasking exercise for the win!

KF: Skincare Smarts?
NF: Sunscreen is a must! No one wants sun damaged wrinkled skin.  I also highly recommend a good moisturiser and a vitamin C serum (spaQ sells an amazing one from the Uspa product line) and I never go to bed without washing off my makeup.

KF: Local hot spot?
NF: Stingray of course! Also, love Justin Lane. Or a picnic in the park at Paradise Point!

KF: Tipple of choice?
NF:
Love a good glass of bubbles but quite partial to a mojito or my new fave Ink Gin! Really digging red wine also! Lol.

KF: Insta Stalking and why?
NF:@celestebarber – She is an Australian comedian who takes funny photos mimicking celebrities. She is sooooo hilarious! And @sian_ as she is a stylist and has such a beautiful page filled with inspiring recipes and vintage home decor.

KF: What’s on your wish List?
NF: I always wish for good health and happiness for myself, my family and friends. But I do have a trip to Tropical North Queensland and Tasmania on the list this year so that we can catch up with family.

KF: How did your business, Strawberry Fundaes begin?
NF: After working for five years as an entertainer at Movieworld and then three years as Captain Starlight for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, I really became hooked on being a children’s entertainer. I just love to make kids laugh and smile. When I left the Starlight Foundation to pursue a career in journalism I just missed that part of my life and thought how can I still light up those little one’s lives? I know, kids parties!

As the Strawberry Fundaes owner and party-starter, Natalie has been to more than her fair share of kids parties, hundreds in fact. This year she was also nominated as a finalist for Best Kids Entertainer for the What’s on for Kids Awards Australia.
