School Holiday Escapism

Sep 14, 2017  ·  3 min read

DING DING – school’s out!

Game on parents – it’s over to you.

While some of you a rejoicing in some much-desired quality time with the kidlets, others of will be counting down the days until the normality of the school run returns.

Either way, here are our top tips to keep both the adults and the offspring entertained:

Swell Sculpture Festival
As part of the annual Swell Sculpture Festival running until September 17, kids are invited to an inspiring hands-on workshop with Artist Velvet Pesu.

Just $15 per child, Velvet will not only keep the little ones entertained (while you enjoy a coffee from one of Currumbin’s funky cafes). He’ll also impart an enriching experience of free play with a bunch of collected and recycled materials on offer to provoke creativity and imagination. You’ll even get to take their very special creation home – one for the pool room!

Southport Broadwater Parklands
We’re blessed on the Gold Coast to have so many amazing water-front parklands. Here, there really is something for the kids and parents to enjoy. With lots of wide-open space to run around, epic playgrounds and kids water parks, the family will be entertained for hours. Grab a smoothie from Café Catalina and then get going with your choice of activities such Farmyard Fun, Circus Play, Train Rides, Monster Truck Rides, Sand and Balloon Art workshops and more. Check them out HERE

EVENT Cinemas
Still one of the best family entertainment options there is – plus it’s air-conditioned, there a choc tops and generally the kids are quiet… bliss! EVENT Cinemas offers family movie packages at discounted prices for the school holidays too where you can enjoy front row seats to Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, The LEGO NINJAGA movie, The Emoji Movie and Rip Tide.

Surfers Paradise Kids Week
Taking place from September 23 – 29, this will be the place to let your little
rugrat run wild with all their friends.

Cavill Mall will be turned into a kids wonderland as the Despicable Me 3 favourites, GruDave and Mel host a daily dance party while the team from the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary will be showing off the wild side of things.

Along with jumping castles, zorb balls and rock climbing activities, Surfers Paradise will be the place to be these school holidays and with QT Gold Coast located just a stone’s throw.
