Rainy Day activities on the Gold Coast

Oct 18, 2017  ·  4 min read

Let’s face it; the Gold Coast is all about the great outdoors. So when the rain settles in…so does the cabin fever.

Of course, there are many great restaurants and bars to explore that’ll keep you dry while whetting your appetite… and a Gold Class experience at Event Cinemas is a no-brainer – but what else?

Here are a few ideas to let the good times roll when it’s raining outside:

SkyPoint Observation Deck

I know what you’re thinking…it’s a bit touristy right? But why the hell not! Sometimes it’s fun to feel like a tourist in your own town (#staycay).

The SkyPoint Observation Deck is located on Level 77 of the Q1 Building in Surfers Paradise and guess what? It’s the Australia’s only

It’s Australia’s only beachside observation deck. Now, that’s pretty cool.

When it’s raining outside and you still want to be a part of the world, this is the place to take it all in. Enjoy 180-degree views over our fine city and a bite to eat at their licensed Seventy7 Cafe & Bar.

Entry starts from $24 per adult – happy days.

Mt Tambourine Cooking School

There’s something special about Mt Tambourine on cool, rainy days. It’s like stepping into a picture book and landing in England’s Lake District – it’s picture perfect.

The Mt Tambourine Cooking School is run by Terri Taylor, a professional French-trained Chef. And in fact, the cooking school is held at her spectacular colonial style house complete with sweeping cottage gardens and a dining room overlooking the breathtaking Scenic Rim.

Terri hosts regular cooking schools, with an interactive French or Greek class on offer this weekend!

Classes run from 10am – 2pm and once you’ve cooked up a storm it’s time to kick-back and enjoy your creations, served to you by Terri and the team – with a glass of wine (or two).

A truly fun day out with friends (or for one), classes start from $132 per person.

The Art Centre Gold Coast

Now’s your chance…try something different. The Art Centre Gold Coast is the perfect rainy day hangout.

Grab a cup of coffee and wander their latest gallery exhibitions including Cross-Currents: from Island to Mainland, The Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award 2017 along with Energies 2017 which features a snapshot of the current social, emotional and global views held by young people on the Gold Coast.

Entry is free and you never know, you might even broaden your horizons.

spaQ

If you’re going to cosy-up and have a lazy day, you may as well do it in style.

QT Gold Coast’s designer day spa, spaQ is a vibrant oasis from the dreary weather outside.

Not only can you unwind in style but you can also enjoy the muscle-melting, immune boosting, stress relieving and life-affirming benefits of spa therapy.

To ensure you make the most of your spa day, spaQ are offering 50% off with their spaQ for Two promotion.

Simply treat yourself and your plus one to a mmm-inducing 60-minute massage or facial between Monday – Friday and receive the second treatment at half price.

Start in the relaxation lounge with a cup of herbal tea, the latest glossy magazines and spaQ’s signature silk robes complete with Le DD Slippers.

Once you’re sufficiently decompressed it’s time for the therapeutic magic to begin.
