Old School Date Nights

Oct 6, 2016  ·  2 min read

By Chelsea Dulieu

Friends with benefits, Tinder dates (I’m using the term dates loosely here guys), group hangs and the “I’m too scared to admit I like you” phases have dominated in years past but whatever happened to a good old fashioned “you’re swell, let’s hold hands” kind of date. Do they still exist? Tried and tested – let’s re-visit three classics that will never go out of style. Listen up kids….

Dinner & Movie
No, smuggling McNuggets into the cinema under your jacket does not count! I’m talking about a nice leisurely sit down dinner (glass of wine strongly recommended) that actually gives you a chance to chat. This classic combo is a great relaxed setting to get to know each other without too much pressure. With Pacific Fair now boasting some great new restaurants and a brand spanking new Event Cinemas, it really is your one-stop-shop(ping centre). Then all you have to do is agree on a movie – easy right?…..

Picnic
Now if you are going for balls-to-the-walls romance this is the one! With so many amazing views around the Coast – may I suggest Burleigh Hill? – You’d be crazy not to take advantage and really woo your significant other. Whipping up some gourmet sambos and snacks is a super easy way to show that extra bit of effort. Worried that you’re no Master Chef? Takeaway fish and chips are always a solid Plan B! Even with other people in background, there’s something about the intimacy of this one that can’t be beat – throw in a sunset for extra cheese factor!
