LETS GET STAMPY

Wooden, crafty, and colourful? You better believe we love the shit out of it. Stampel is the name given to the gorgeous range of wooden objects that are designed and hand-carved by Andrea Shaw.

Stampel is a Swedish word (no wonder we love it) for Stamp, and Andrea chose the word after an inspiring trip to Japan where she found herself some chisels and a wood block printing kit.

Andrea started Stampel in 2011, after having her fill of the city and needing the fresh air and tranquillity of the country. It was here that she started to play with ideas surrounding repurposed materials, hand-crafts and design and in general putting to good use her degree in Textile Design from Melbourne’s illustrious RMIT. Since then, Stampel has grown beyond only wooden materials and also to include a jewellery range, gift sets and a small range of homewares. All materials used are reclaimed and if new, natural, biodegradable materials across all products and works.

Two of our favourite products that Andrea has made are the tiny macramé plant hangers and the jewellery hangers – the latter we think works on its own as a wooden wall hanging. Made from recycled timber blocks and some splashes of paint, these are all sorts of cute. So cute that they have already sold out, but never fear, as there are more in the making!
