How to Brunch on the Goldy

Feb 17, 2016  ·  3 min read

By Ashleigh Hobson

Whether you come here for the sun drenched beaches or the party scene alone, the restaurant culture is definitely not something to be scoffed at on the Gold Coast. Yes, I know what you’re thinking, “How can a place filled with chiselled bodies and an unhealthy obsession for gyms also be able to offer delicious, tantalising food!?” Well, whether you believe it or not, there’s an abundance of nosh hot spots on the Goldy, and I’m here to give you a heads-up on the best brunch spots in town.

Paddock Bakery

Paddock Bakery definitely isn’t the new kid on the block, however it is still buzzing with copious amounts of people every day of the week. Nestled a street back from the Gold Coast highway and hidden inside a beautiful old weatherboard house, this well thought out bakery is a refreshing new age take on the Gold Coast’s café culture. From their freshly baked artisanal bread to their famous Nutella doughnuts and personalised dippy eggs, Paddock really brings the fire in terms of brunch flavours.

Elk Espresso

Elk Espresso will grab your attention from the moment you walk through their doors. With its mismatched seating, flower-sporting wooden tables and art-laden walls, this incredible little café feels more like an art studio then a brunch hotspot and is a world away from the stainless steel cafes of Broadbeach. Unlike a lot of the cafés around that lure you in with their refreshing fit outs, then leave you disappointed by their meal offerings, Elk will have you frothing to come back thanks to their delicious brunch menu, which has a perfectly even spread of traditional hearty meals and very healthy brekkie options.

Bazaar Marketplace

Bazaar is obviously very close to our hearts, and before you pass judgement on our somewhat biased opinion, the Bazaar Marketplace is a must do experience for breakfast dining on the Goldy. From crispy bacon and bite sized potato hash browns, to a live omelette station, homemade bread and butter pudding, smoothies, fruits and heaps more, Bazaar has something to suit everybody’s needs. Bazaar has recreated the traditional marketplace and added it’s very own funky 21st century twist!

Get. In. My. Belly.
