Gold Coast Pop Up Weddings

The term ‘pop-up wedding’ isn’t a new sensation, in fact it’s a popular wedding trend worldwide. It’s most recognisable in the form of a Las Vegas style wedding where couples can marry on a whim in pop-up chapels with two witnesses or a handful of guests. It’s a little different in Australia because couples must give 30 days notice of their intent to marry but the concept is just taking off because it’s a unique alternative to a traditional wedding, a registry wedding or an elopement, and it’s so much more affordable! The average cost of a wedding in Australia is now between $36,000 and $48,000 and there are couples out there who want to keep their wallets in check. Traditional weddings also take up a good portion of the day but pop-up weddings offer something that’s quick, easy and stress-free.

The last decade has seen the emergence of the DIY Bride, who takes on her own “do-it-yourself’ wedding projects to keep costs down. More recently there’s been a trend towards a ‘back to basics’ approach where couples are opting for smaller, more intimate weddings where the focus is on the marriage. Couples are also looking for something new and fresh where they can personalise their weddings to suit them.

Gold Coast Pop Up Weddings offers something out of the ordinary with seriously fun, mini wedding packages for under $2,000. The one hour package includes an amazing Gold Coast venue, a Celebrant, photographer, stylist, mini wedding cake and a champagne toast. What’s not to love?

Other pop-up wedding companies limit the number of guests to around 10, but at Gold Coast Pop Up Weddings couples can bring along their closest relatives and friends or their entire guest list! They can also add on a casual lunch or dinner, or full-scale reception after the ceremony.

Gold Coast Pop Up Weddings founder Bree Nicholls has always had a passion for weddings. She has been in the wedding industry for over 10 years and never gets tired of seeing a wedding day come to life. Bree too spent upwards of $20,000 on her own wedding and if she had her time again, would do things a little differently. “Planning a wedding can be a very time consuming and stressful task for anyone. There’s always a million and one things to organise. A pop-up wedding is a great way to still enjoy everything that makes a wedding day come together but with less expense and time involved.”

Bree is also a local and saw the need to offer a dedicated pop-up wedding service in the area. “The Gold Coast is already a popular wedding destination with it’s beautiful beaches and hinterland but there is so much more on offer in terms of wedding venues. We could have picked any number of locations to host the Gold Coast’s very first Pop Up Wedding but QT Gold Coast Hotel caught our eye because of it’s mix of contemporary and retro styles. We think couples can relate to that laid back feel where the stress of planning a wedding is replaced with a focus on saying, “I do”.

If you missed out on this year’s Valentines Event don’t panic, bookings for the 2016 Valentines Day Event at QT Gold Coast Hotel are now open at www.goldcoastpopupweddings.com.
