Father’s Day Preparation

Jul 13, 2016  ·  3 min read

By Ashleigh Hobson.

Every year it’s the same thing, we ask our dads what they want for Father’s day and we’re met with a very simple answer, “socks and undies”. Let’s be honest, we know that underneath their tough exterior every dad really wants a bit of extra loving on this day but their lack of suggestions always leaves us wondering, what do we get dad for Father’s Day? Never fear, we’ve come up with some of the best and father friendly ideas to help make your dad’s special day run a little more smoothly this time around.

Burleigh Brewing Co.

Live music, local food trucks and your very own front seat to all the brewing action, what dad wouldn’t love that on his special day? If you wanted to go above and beyond for your dad this year, the Burleigh Brewing Co. also do a backstage tour with the Brew-master himself, this will give you and your dad the opportunity to get inside the brain of one of the world’s more passionate and awarded brewers and of course sample some of the beer first hand.

Man Tea

Now before you make any judgement, just understand that this is not your usual ‘high tea’ experience. The Man Tea was designed with blokes in mind. Picture this, mini burgers, gourmet meat pies, prawn buckets and of course the bourbon cigar with bacon and lemon ash, sound intriguing? It should. This is held at QT Gold Coast and is guaranteed to blow the socks off your dad this Father’s Day.

Balter Brewing Company

I know we have already mentioned one brewery, but come on, we are talking about dads after all. Dads love beer and this second brewery is also worth the mention. With the founders of this company including a couple of world class surfers, I guess it’s safe to say that they have tasted their fair share of beer over their time and voilà, Balter Brewing was born. Down at Balter HQ you can tour the facility, taste the beers and enjoy the odd special event that showcases epic food and a fun crew. Located just down at Currumbin, it’s a nice easy Sunday drive, which your Dad will froth on.

Treat him to a massage

We all know just how much dads like to kick up their feet and relax, so why not spoil Dad to a famous Weekend Warrior treatment this year at spaQ. The treatment begins with a full back pep-me-up with a vigorous green tea salt scrub to drive away unwanted dry and flaky skin, next a massage targeting areas of tension and tightness and to finish a Supernatural Men’s facial to balance our sensitivities, nourish and boost healthy cell regeneration. If that all sounds a little too girly for your dad, entice him with a nice cold beer to finish off the whole day!
