Celebrate the Games!

Mar 9, 2018  ·  3 min read

With the 2018 Commonwealth Games in sight, as a city being transformed for the world stage with countless eyeballs watching our little city with a big attitude, the Gold Coast is gearing up for the height of Festival 2018!

Festival 2018 is a pop-up arts extravaganza showcasing everything from dance to drama, live music to interactive artworks, and you’re invited to dive in and take the plunge into a whole new world. It’s a festival where the world can come together as one, focused on the beach, which is quite possibly the one truly democratic place we have on earth.

There is so much happening it would literally take 20 of you to attend every event. So, we’ve picked our top must do’s but, don’t worry, if our cup of tea isn’t your cup of tea, I’m sure there is something that everyone will like to sip.

Bleach Electrified

Since hitting the Gold Coast, Bleach Festival has given the GC arts scene a stage to stand on and a culture unquestioned. Festival favourite, Confidence Man, headline’s Bleach Electrified, plus there will also be performances by culture, language and genre-bringing, Electric Fields, plus much more! Find out more here.

Holoscenes

Fresh and inspiring from NYC, Holoscenes is, in essence, a giant fishbowl where performers do everyday tasks with rising and falling water levels … sounds easy right? Set to a haunting soundtrack, performers stay in the tanks for 45 minutes and battle the rising and falling waters to connect us with the message that our lives involve constant highs and lows. IT’S A MUST SEE!

Impulse

Remember being a little shredder owning the playground and surfing the see-saws? Well, technology caught up and made it more fun! Impulse is an interactive see-saw experience where music is generated by moving. Illuminated by night you become the musician simply by moving your legs!

All this and more is happening during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games from the 4th to the 15th of April.
