Wine time in the Capital

Mar 20, 2019  ·  3 min read

Allow us to introduce a glorious festival of the grape by the name of …Canberra Wine Week 2019.

Here in the Capital, we take things seriously, ESPECIALLY food and wine. That’s why Canberra District Wines celebrates the finest drops in the region through delightful and delectable events and experiences at the start of April.

The first of which begins with an open-air wine tasting event. Over 18 leading wineries will be showcased in the beautiful courtyard of New Acton.

Then expect the unexpected at this year’s exclusive dinner hosted at the two-hatted restaurant, Aubergine. The dinner will feature a selection of six top wines perfectly matched to delight the senses.

Thirsty yet? The excuse to savour and explore the world of local plonk doesn’t stop there.

Say hello to Sunday Sounds, a blend of music and wines to sink into during the weekend sun. Limited release Chardonnay and Pinot Noir alongside Grazing eats and smooth Jazz tunes by Tilt Trio for the ultimate afternoon enjoyment.

Also offered are more adventurous events for those grape drinkers who like out-of-the-box pairings.

Enticing experiences such as Grape Stomping, Pilates in the Vineyard and Watercolours and Wines are not to miss.

But wait, the most excitement comes on the 13th of April when newly formed festival experience Wine Machine hits Lake George Winery. With the ideal scene ‘set amongst luscious grapevines’, Wine machine offers the opportunity to delve into ‘the country’s wine heartland for a day of flirtatious feasting and frivolity’.

This is a regional celebration like no other, promising ‘the finest gourmet fare with local produce at the forefront. This focus extends beyond food and wine with a massive and proudly all-Australian wineup. Appetising isn’t?

It’s only natural you’ll need a place to put up your feet after all this wining and dining around.

Don’t be shy to stop by or indulge in a staycation during this feasting season. And if you’re weary, don’t worry the wine list at Capitol Bar and Grill will take care of you.

Other event highlights include the Wine Uncovered TourJazz & Wine Flights, Wine Week Harvest Festival,Live Jazz on the Terrace, Holy Trinity of Cheesemaking, Cooking & Pairing.

Merry grape tasting!
