Keeping your ear to the beat of Canberra’s party scene pays off.
When you look a little closer at the scene you’ll see that the capital is packed with mini-festivals, industry leaders and a community wanting to help each other out.
Being the recipient of the In The City grant, Issac Dugdale has produced a part party, part conference and part festival with Wind It Up, Canberra’s premiere two-day showcase of the party scene in the Berra.
Taking over Verity Lane and the surrounds in the CBD, the festival aims to tackle all that needs to be discussed in the industry. With a stacked list of workshops including; Introduction to Ableton, the top electronic producing software; How to DJ, with B-Tham; How to throw a house party; party photography and how to nail music journalism. There is so much goodness in store, it would be silly not to highlight a couple of the above and see where they can take you.
Another standout event for the festival is a panel discussion presented by HerCanberra, which will discuss gender issues in the club culture today. The panel will be made up with Megan Bones from Mr Wolf, Lauren Hansom from FBi Radio and QT favourite, Rubi Tuesday from the production team behind Spilt Milk, Kicks Entertainment.
The festival runs over two days, March 3 – 4. With the wrap party being thrown in Verity Lane with a whole host of DJ’s spinning some filthy beats. Kicking off at the ripe time of 4pm, this party will showcase exactly why the Canberra party scene is at the top of its game, no matter how small.
