Wanderlust 108

Are you trying to find your true north? Do you seek a journey toward a mindful and inspired life? Does this sound like nothing more than prayer-handed Namastenian waffle? Well, it kinda of is, and that’s ok. If you’re into it, then Wanderlust 108 is for you. And if you’re not into it, maybe you should choose a outrageous mantra and give it a try.

Wanderlust 108 is a series of one-day mindful triathlons that take place in cities around the world, from Nashville to Yokohama, Viña del Mar and Monterrey. And no, you’re not expected to know what a mindful triathlon is.

Wanderlust 108 combines three activities that encompass mindfulness – running, yoga, and meditation – to make the world’s only mindful triathlon. It’s a celebration of the mindful movement – the psychological approach of bringing one’s attention to what’s occurring in the present moment, i.e. living in the now. This is how the triathlon goes down:

5K Run

Presented by adidas, this is a “5K your way”. Entrants can run, walk or dawdle. Dance, bounce, meander or jive. As long as you make it across the finish line, it doesn’t really matter.

Yoga

90 minutes of yoga flow set to the rhythms of a DJ. Don’t expect Insomnia by Faithless. It’s an absolute corker of a tune, but the it will be downtempo tunes aimed to relax the listeners.

Meditation

“Get your sit together.” A 30-minute guided meditation will clear your mind, relax the bod and complete the mindful triathlon.

The Canberra instalment will see Noelle Connolly calling the yoga shots, Franko Heke on the mic and DJ R.I.A. spinning flowery beats.

Besides the triathlon, there’ll be kombucha tastings, hula hooping with SpinJoy, aerial yoga with Zoe Zephyr, acroyoga with Emma Maidment, music workshops, essential oils classes and lots of chakra-alligned (and tasty) grub.

Wanderlust 108 Canberra will take place October 21 from 7am – 3pm at Patrick White Lawns.
