One Spring Sunday

Oct 7, 2016  ·  2 min read

By Tarn Morrow

What a wonderful time of the year it is here in Canberra. Finally basking in the glory that the warmer months are upon us and that daylight savings is here, there is so much to look forward to. I have this Sunday all planned out for you with a busy schedule of activities that will entertain and surprise you:

Doubleshot
The go to place to start any weekend activity. Located in the Deakin shops, this contemporary cafe is my favourite for coffee and has a wonderful array of breakfast delights, freshly squeezed juices and what I consider the best caramel milkshake in Canberra. Visit Doubleshot.

Floriade
Two weekends to go and whilst the weather has not been the best, Floriade is a must at this time of the year. Visit Commonwealth Park and enjoy horticultural workshops, artistic displays, entertainment and recreational activities. Floriade opens from 9am – 5:30pm and finishes on Sunday 16 October 2016.

A History of the World in 100 Objects
Visit the National Museum of Australia and explore the history of humanity in this major exhibition from the British Museum. Hours have been extended on Sundays to 7pm and tickets are $20 for an adult.

Canberra Deco to Retro Fair
This fair will feature top antique dealers offering the best in genuine vintage and retro. The focus for this fair is on everything from the 1900s to 2000, encompassing Arts Noveau, Art Deco, mid-Century, vintage and kitsch. Open from 10am – 4pm at The Albert Hall in Yarralumla.

Kitty Flanagan at the Canberra Theatre Centre
Finish your Sunday and join Kitty Flanagan for a night of up close and personal comic relief in her All New Whitey McWhiteboard Tryout Show. This is a loose, informal hour of previously untried material. Tickets are $25 per person and places are limited.
