Men’s Winter Grooming Tips

Jun 23, 2017  ·  3 min read

interview by annie brown

We all know the feeling of looking in the mirror mid-Winter, face pale with a significant moon tan and wondering what we can do to spruce up our look until the sun’s rays once again give some glow to our pallor.

As a woman who has not only worked in fashion and beauty but sampled countless numbers of products and styles, I could probably write a book on women’s grooming.

But what about the dudes?

I have enlisted the help of our very stylish resident Barber, Kris Jones, to give some tips to the lads out there, looking to keep their style game strong throughout the cooler months.

AB: Hi Kris
KJ: Hey Annie!

AB: Now Kris, you groom men all day long. What are the trends in facial hair and hair this winter?
BK: If you’re looking to grow your winter facial winter coat I would recommend opposite facial to head looks. If you have longer, messier hair, go for a shorter, more tailed beard. On the flip side if you want to go for the surfer/Gandalf look then get the head hair cropped short. This will bring balance to your head.

AB: Got it. In the cooler weather, how can you best look after your skin?
BK: Get into the moisturisers! Depending where you live will determine what you need for your skin. The cooler the climate the heavier your face cream needs to be, go for something oil based product which you can use daily. If you’re in a warmer part of the world go for a light water based skin repairer such as a hydration gel.

AB: It’s all about hydration! What are your top 3 winter grooming products?
BK: A great moisturiser that suits your skin. Paw Paw cream for those chapped lips; we all get them. A good hair product that can be remoulded such as a clay for when we are taking our winter jackets and jumpers off.

AB: Till next season, Thanks, Kris!
KJ: No, thank you!

Barber Kris is not shy of a chat so if you want more of his pearls of grooming wisdom and an awesome new winter style (over a glass of Chivas), call the Barber Shop on 6267 1267.
