Beauty and the Capital

Jul 13, 2017  ·  2 min read

Some time ago, roughly 18 months, in fact, the Canberra Centre boarded up one side of the mall with rumours circling feverishly about what this all meant. Would it be an H&M? A Uniqlo? I certainly hoped for the former, with memories of shopping in Europe coming flooding back, finally the fast-fashion mecca…in Canberra! My dreams were quickly quashed however as the rumours were proven unfounded. What could this space be, I wondered. It was so hush, hush.

Fast forward a year or so and the plans were revealed: the space that was previously the home to Lincraft and Sussan was to become a beauty and wellness precinct; a new lifestyle concept, the likes of which Canberra had never seen.

Now the launch is upon us, July 13 in fact, and I for one will be high-tailing it over there to have a sticky-beak (as soon as the crowds disperse, naturally).

Beauty lovers are rejoicing at beauty giant Mecca Maxima opening in the precinct, sister store to the luxe Mecca Cosmetica currently in the centre. You will also find cult cosmetic brands Inglot and 3ina, Australian skincare brand Jurlique and holistic skincare and aromatherapy brand Perfect Potion.

Many existing brands will move across to the precinct, including L’Occitane, Aveda, The Body Shop and Napoleon Perdis. You can also stock up on fresh blooms at the new kiosk by The Floral Society, get your sweet fix at Passiontree Velvet Patisserie or freshen up at Eden Laser Clinic or Endota Spa.

There is a stellar line-up of beauty and wellness workshops coming up too, with some well-known personalities that are sure to inspire. Health and wellness expert, Lola Berry and all-round style and beauty aficionado, Eleanor Pendleton from Gritty Pretty will be hosting workshops this weekend, something I certainly don’t want to miss.

Slick on that red lippie, grab a green juice and let’s roll.

Stay in the loop here.
