Join us for the launch party of EQUINE on the 20th of September with drinks and nibbles from 6pm. The Exhibition is showing in the QT Canberra lobby space from September 14th to October the 5th.

Canberra born, Grace Costa has spent the past 18-years building her career as a commercial photographer most of that time as a photographer for the Department of Defence, and most recently, a photo-based artist. She has built a multi-award-winning portfolio in this time most notably in 2014 Grace was a finalist in the National Photographic Portrait Prize and featured in the touring exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.

Grace’s heart lies with contemporary portraiture where she is best known for her striking and imaginative portraits of horses, developed from her history with horses growing up where she learned everything from her father, a well-respected horseman of over 50 years. She has turned equine art on its head and brought it into the 21st century with contemporary, yet timeless portraits of the horses she so carefully selects for her collections. She was unable to find modern and stylish art that represented the way she saw horses so she created what she wanted, from her own imagination.

The launch of ‘HORSE’ was her most successful exhibition while it travelled around Australia and featured in the Head On Photo Festival in Sydney. The success of this body of work led her to presenting a TEDx Canberra talk titled ‘Connecting to your creative truth through personal story’ in 2017. Grace has been featured in numerous respected Australian publications, such as Photo Review, Equine Magazine, Horse Wyse, and The Eye Creative Magazine. In 2019 Grace shares a personal story based around her father’s life with horses which has been a major influence on her work as an artist. The Narrabundah Boy is a short film created by TENALPHAS productions in association with Grace Costa which will feature in the 2019 Canberra Short Film Festival.
