Executive Chef- John Thurgood
John’s diverse and prestigious career has seen him woven into the rich culinary history of what now is QT Canberra. From an apprenticeship with QT Canberra’s former incarnation, the Lakeside International Hotel in the 70’s, John sat at the helm of the Rydges Wentworth kitchen in Sydney as Executive Chef for a decade before taking over at QT Canberra last year. In amongst those posts he has extensive experience in prestigious hotels and has forayed into the realm of the celebrity chef, working alongside Neil Perry, Maggie Beer, Bill Granger and Christine Mansfield.
Executive Sous Chef- Michael Box
Another culinary champion of the QT brand, Michael has worked across the kitchens of both QT Canberra and Sydney. Before joining QT Canberra, Michael was the Sous Chef at QT Sydney alongside Paul Esson, the Executive Chef of QT Melbourne. Prior to his appointment within the QT brand, Michael was the Head Chef at both The Cut & Swine and Co, Sydney. Throughout his dynamic career, Michael has worked for notable Sydney restaurants, Momofuku Seiobo and Nomad, Surry Hills. Michael’s passion also extends past the kitchen; you can often spy him tending to the fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs in the QT Canberra roof-top garden.
