Moonlight Cinema Magic in the Park

Feb 16, 2018  ·  3 min read

Watching Netflix at home on your comfy couch is sometimes hard to beat but there’s something giving that a run for its money and that’s the Moonlight Cinema in Centennial Park!

There’s not really a better way to spend a warm summer’s evening than watching a movie in Sydney’s ultimate peoples’ park under the stars. Then, add delicious food and a glass of vino or craft brew and it sounds like pure heaven.

The Moonlight Cinema is a luxury that we will all enjoy. Young, old, and whatever in between … it will be a winner. Happy crew, happy you!

It is stretched out over four glorious months and is the epitome of the perfect balmy night out.

It is now roughly halfway through the jam-packed program for this year and there are some hot new releases being showcased. It’s the ideal time to take in the Oscar-nominated films!

They’re screening some big name films over the next few weeks. We’re particularly interested in the few that are on the bill for Oscar royalty. Next week is loaded with blockbusters, kicking off with Darkest Hour on Wednesday, then I, Tonya on Friday, starring Australia’s very own Margot Robbie in the true story of figure skater Tonya Harding.

Then, you have a smorgasbord of hits to choose from … Everything from All the Money in the World, Get Out, The Greatest Showman and The Shape of Water, to Lady Bird, The Post, and A Wrinkle in Time will be showing until the screenings wind up on 1st April.

There is plenty of food and drinks on offer but also feel free to bring your own picnic and, as an added bonus, it’s BYO. Whatever floats your boat!

There will be plenty to do for the kids and it’s a dog-friendly space so your pup can enjoy the fun too. So pull up your ‘Bean Bed’ (available for hire at the venue for $9), your picnic rug or your (low) outdoor chair and enjoy the entertainment.

Only a hop, skip and a jump from Bondi, the Moonlight Cinema certainly brings all the top B’s – beauty, bevs and bloody good movies. Also food, fun, frivolity and, more than often, a killer sunset.

Check out the program and buy tickets here.
