Let’s Go Surfing

Oct 19, 2016  ·  3 min read

By Ben Stephens

Are you kidding, the World Surf League is taking the crowning of the champ to Pipeline, Hawaii once again. I’m no gambler, but John John Florence is having a killer year and there is little else I would like to see than a final between him and Gaby Medina on John’s doorstep.

It’s been a year of twists and turns for the tour, with 44-year-old, 11-time world champ, Kelly Slater taking out Tahiti earlier in the year and Hawaiin local favourite Keanu Asing taking the top spot in France with his top notch air game.

The girls topped off all this hype as Aussie champion, Tyler Wright, took out the World Championship title early, with her performance in France – Congrats TW! With one more stop on tour for the girls, Honolua Bay will be an exhibition of the best on tour hunting for those tour points.

All this stoke surrounding tubes on tour might be making you want to get pitted yourself. If you’re new to the sport of surfing or consider yourself a complete kook, our good friends at Let’s Go Surfing would love nothing more than to get you up and shredding this season.

They are the absolute professionals when it comes to getting you from the shore to the swell, with a team of teachers that are all mad shredders themselves. They’ll set you up with a wetsuit, board, easy to identify rash top and of course all the theory to get you out there.

As the good friends that they are, we here at QT Bondi have teamed up with the Let’s Go Surfing crew to offer you a sweet package. Starting off with accommodation in a lush QT King Deluxe room, a private surf lesson with the team at Let’s Go Surfing and photographer to snap all your skill. We’ll also hook you up with a daily surf report, so you’ll know when to head out the back – check out the package HERE.

If you’re not around the Bondi area, the team have classes at Maroubra, in Sydney’s south, and up in the beautiful Byron Bay, check out all their offerings HERE.

Whatever way you decide to tackle this season, from a board or the beach, pop December 8 in the dairy – that’s the start of the Billabong Pipeline Masters where a world champ will be crowned.

Again, here’s to Tyler Wright – YOU CHAMPION!
