Your Foodie Guide to Sculpture by the Sea

Oct 9, 2017  ·  3 min read

From Tamarama to Bondi, our coastline is transformed into a two-kilometre long sculpture park featuring over 100 weird and wonderful sculptures by Aussie and International artists; Welcome to Sculpture by the Sea 2017.

It’s the world’s largest annual free-to-the-public outdoor sculpture exhibition and we are pretty lucky to have it right here in Bondi.

First things first though, you need to base yourself somewhere, being in the heartland, can I be so bias to recommend QT Bondi as your base?

Also, we have a banging package offering all that’s needed for a cultured weekend in the bubble.

Including a two-night stay in one of our King Deluxe Rooms, a bottle of Perrier-Jouet Champagne on arrival, a Sculpture’s exhibition catalogue and a Bondi Sculptures Survival Kit.

Now that you have your base sorted it’s time to plan out how to tackle the walk. Being lovers of top quality food and drink, we like to base one’s foray into the arts around exactly that.

This guide works best if you start around 10, keep an average pace of 25.00min/km+ and start on an empty stomach. Oh and also stop and smell the art like roses along the way.

Breakfast

Start your day with a fresh Cali Press Juice. They have awesome superfood bowls and whole foods so you can load up on nutrients before your big day of walking. Then make your way towards the southern end of Bondi Beach to start the ‘trek‘.

Lunch

A favourite place to consume damn good food in the Eastern Suburbs is at Three Blue Ducks, which is conveniently located at the end of the Sculptures path in Bronte (up a rather large hill).

By the time you have walked the 2km path, looked at all the sculptures, Three Blue Ducks will be your saving grace as your lunchtime cravings begin.

Afternoon Drinks/Dinner

When you get back to Bondi, keep tackling your monster of a walk that has now blown out to 4kms+ (you animal). Head to the Northern heartland of Bondi until you find The Rocker  With a banging vibe, strong wine list and solid dinner/early dinner snacking options, this is a fine place to end your day of art and discovery.

Sculpture by the Sea is on from October 19 to November 5.
