Commune

As your early 20’s start to feel like a distant foggy drunken memory and the big three oh starts to become very clear in your vision, your priorities seem to change. You start worrying less about what outfit you’re going to wear to ‘The Island this weekend and more about what succulent would match the woven table runner you just bought, or will those cushions go nicely on your new retro couch you just spent thousands of dollars on when it looks like something your parents had in the 70’s that probably cost them $100.

You say goodbye to your share house buddies and find your very own nest… now it’s time to adult!

It’s a scary time but the most exciting part about making your nest your own and with the amount of banging homewares stores around these days this process is an absolute dream (not for the bank account though).

Which brings me to COMMUNE, Bondi’s newest and spunkiest homewares store. Taking up camp where the old Jed’s café used to be on the corner of Warners Avenue and Blair Street, Commune has absolutely blown my interior mind. The only issue I have with it is that it isn’t big enough.

Commune is filled from wall to wall with a curated selection of furniture, homewares, lifestyle and fashion. They focus on handmade and ethically sourced products that you don’t see every day in the marketplace.

They have an incredible selection of plants, cacti and succulents for those plant lovers. Kitchen pottery, wooden cheese boards and beautiful woven placemats for the foodies. An amazing range of baby homewares for all those new Mumma’s out there and endless cushions, wall hangings and lamp shades for all you interior designs freaks.

There is not one thing in that store that I don’t want to buy, so if you’re looking to give your home a makeover or you have just moved into a new nest this is your one stop shop. Bondi was screaming for a little gem like this and if you aren’t from the East side and Bondi didn’t already have enough reasons for you to come visit, this is now no.1 on my preach list!
