City2Surf 2016

By Ben Stephens.

We are about a month away from the starting gun that will see 60,000+ humans tackle the 14km track from the heart of Sydney City to the beachside bubble of Bondiā€¦ does that sound like something you want to be a part of? City2Surf means different things to so many people, some are dedicated to the raising of funds for charities, others are out to set personal bests and there is a growing number of non running participants that use the race as an excuse to start a Sunday session early. Whatever your reasons for getting excited for the August 14 event, experienced runners recommend that now is the time to get that training and diet on track, if you want to tackle that PB that may or may not have ever set.

Now to throw extra inspiration towards the run, there will be a string of local and national celebrities competing, and itā€™s always a good time to catch up with celeb crush/soon to be bestie. Nutri-Grain poster girl and 3rd in the rankings for Iron Woman, Harriet Brown will be training hard for the 14km dash to the beach. Home and Away alumna, Tessa James, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 and came into remission in early 2015 will be out there setting PBā€™s. If youā€™re feeling like toppling the 2015 champ, Brad Milosevic, who set a time of 42m 15s last year will be back at it defending his title.

Lastly, the QT Team will be on hand to, running in the yellow group. The team will be made up of members from across the board, General Managers to Porters, even a couple of Director of Chaosā€™ from QT Sydney, sadly, I have been told they might not be rocking their red bobs.

Now in order to be apart of the race that stops traffic in Sydney, make sure you get your registration completed ASAP to secure your spot on the starting line. There are tickets for individuals, groups and families, head to the City2Surf website to grab those.

See you at the finish line/Beach Road Hotel bar line.

The City2SurfĀ runs Sunday, August 14, 2016.
